“Unfortunately, Silas, we will have to head home early. It seems Phillipa has fallen ill and wishes us to remain in full health, just in case it’s serious”.

“Serious? What do you mean? Surely it would be in our best interest to remain and see that she gets better?”

A lump. A huge, massive lump of fear wedged itself into my throat.

“That’s precisely what I said to Prince Cander, though he was very persistent…” I stopped him midsentence. “You spoke with the Prince?”

My father gave me a confused look, probably because of the acid that dripped from my words.

“Of course, I did Silas? Perhaps you are also feeling unwell, it may be the best thing for us to go home after all”.

It was paralyzing.

When I didn’t answer he left the room shortly after patting my back and mumbling something about being ready to leave in an hour.

I seemed to be on auto pilot as I moved around my room packing up the little number of things I had brought from the ship, mainly clothes. The Queen had my photo of Terra so though I was in fact leaving with less than I arrived with, I felt that I had obtained much far than I brought with me in my travels and hoped it wouldn’t sink the ship. I was silent when I was packing my things, I couldn’t stop thinking. I thought the simple motion of folding clothes would calm my angst, but it gave no reprieve from the fear that was coursing through my veins, polluting my blood. There was no time to behave like I was, it was childish, and I didn’t have the luxury of being frightened. Not when I was who I was, and not when I had the knowledge I did.
